Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa is extremely pleased to announce the visit of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
DO NOT MISS THIS RARE AND PRECIOUS OPPORTUNITY to receive teachings from our incomparable Teacher and FPMT Spiritual Director here at ILTK, 28–29 June.
After the extraordinary teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, we will have the great good fortune to continue to receive great blessings from the speech of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, who will extend his stay at Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa beyond the visit of His Holiness, through 29 June.
Here is the program of the visit of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche here at ILTK, as of this moment:
17 – 18 June: Regional Meeting of the European FPMT Centers
(This event is limited to those who hold a key role in their center: directors, Board members, spiritual program coordinators)
21 June: Meeting of Italian FPMT Centers
(This event is limited to those who hold a key role in the Italian FPMT centers: directors, spiritual program coordinators, Board members)
Saturday, 28 June
Rinpoche will give teachings on The Wheel of Sharp Weapons, a powerful thought transformation text whose meaning encompasses a profound method to transform our negative attitudes into positive.
The great yogi Dharmarakshita composed this text while doing retreat in a fearsome jungle environment filled with wild and dangerous animals. From among his many disciples, Dharmarakshita transmitted this teaching specifically to Atisha, who practiced it diligently and used it as a means to subdue the wildest people with whom he came in contact. When Atisha realized the two bodhicittas through his practice of these teachings, he wrote the following verse:
I went through much hardship abandoning royalty,
But by collecting much virtuous merit,
I met my true guru, Dharmarakshita,
By showing me these supreme nectar like teachings,
He has granted me sovereignty over my mind,
So that now I have attained all the forceful opponents,
Having memorized fully these words he has taught.
The practice of The Wheel of Sharp Weapons strikes precisely at the heart of our true enemies: the self-cherishing thought and our grasping at a truly existent self.
Sunday, 29 June
Rinpoche will confer the long life initiation of Amitayus, the Buddha of Infinite Life of Tara Bianca
Specific prerequisites are not required for this initiation: Those who participate in this initiation will receive the commitments of taking refuge in the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha) and will be given the opportunity to take the bodhisattva vows as well.
Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche is known for his special ability to creatively teach every subject specifically to the level of the minds of his students. The last time that Rinpoche visited and taught in Italy was in 2008 – six long years ago! – so this is a particularly important opportunity for his students, as well as for those who are not yet acquainted with Rinpoche, to hear his extraordinary teachings and make a connection with Rinpoche. Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa, together with our sister centers in Italy, is an FPMT center, and as such our vision, practices and programs are all under the guidance of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
The schedule of each of these events will appear on this webpage as soon as they become available. We wish to inform you that any announced schedule is ALWAYS subject to change, even up to the very day of the event itself. Please also keep in mind that often Lama Zopa Rinpoche teaches beyond the time at which a session is scheduled to conclude.
