The 2026 edition of the Summer School Consciousness and Cognition is organised by the University of Pisa in collaboration with the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute, with the support of the Italian Buddhist Union.

The Summer School adopts a multidisciplinary approach that brings neuroscience, biology, artificial intelligence and physics into dialogue with the epistemological question at stake in phenomenology, Eastern philosophies and contemplative practices. This mission requires the contribution of highly qualified lecturers from a wide range of backgrounds.

Once again this year the Summer School will take place in Pomaia, thanks to an agreement between the University of Pisa and the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute.

Time will be devoted to the experiential aspect to complement the lessons with sessions focusing on familiarisation with contemplative practices (yoga and meditation). All sessions will be led by highly qualified teachers with different specialisations and will be available to students attending the Summer School online.
