SUMMARY:Summer Retreat in Logic and Debate
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Logic and Debate\nA pedagogical approach to the study of Buddhism. Dialectics as a method for studying and understanding phenomena. \nFrom the teachings of the Buddha to contemporary teachings\, and in particular those of His Holiness the Dalai Lama\, Buddhist study encourages students to examine statements through analysis and reasoning\, rather than accepting them on the basis of faith alone. \nIn the context of Buddhist studies\, logic and the dialectical method are tools used to deepen one’s understanding of the teachings. Once learned\, they can be applied to the study of Buddhist texts and\, more broadly\, to processes of analysis\, dialogue\, and reflection. \nThe Logic and Debate project was established at the Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa and now continues in collaboration with the Study Center of the Italian Buddhist Union. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nThe 2026 edition of the Summer School Consciousness and Cognition is organised by the University of Pisa in collaboration with the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute\, with the support of the Italian Buddhist Union. \nThe Summer School adopts a multidisciplinary approach that brings neuroscience\, biology\, artificial intelligence and physics into dialogue with the epistemological question at stake in phenomenology\, Eastern philosophies and contemplative practices. This mission requires the contribution of highly qualified lecturers from a wide range of backgrounds. \nOnce again this year the Summer School will take place in Pomaia\, thanks to an agreement between the University of Pisa and the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute. \nTime will be devoted to the experiential aspect to complement the lessons with sessions focusing on familiarisation with contemplative practices (yoga and meditation).
