Great blessing of the marine wildlife at marina Cala de’ Medici with Lama Zopa Rinpoche between Castiglioncello and Rosignan, Sea Shepherd, Lipu (Italian Society for the Protection of Birds) and Angelo Vaira (ThinkDog School).
On Sunday, 8 October at 3.30 pm at marina Cala de’ Medici in Rosignano, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, one of the most renowned maters of Tibetan Buddhism will board the Sea Shepherd’s Brigitte Bardot trimaran in order to bless all sealife with prayers and mantras. This event at marina is organised by Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa and association ‘Sinergy tra terra e mare’ that strives to connect the marina Cala de’Medici with its surrounding territory.
Lama Zopa Rinpoche is famous for his relentless and compassionate work for the benefit of others. He is the cofounder and spiritual director of the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute in Pomaia, where he is currently leading a month-long retreat attended by numerous participants from all parts of the world.
The Sunday event at Marina Cala de’Medici will also be attended by Angelo Vaira, founder of the Think Dog School, and LIPU – society for the preservation of nature, protection of biodiversity and promotion of ecological culture in Italy.
Angelo Vaira is a dog bonding coach, writer, instructor and an important media figure. Thanks to his remarkable work over the last 15 years, he is considered one of the most influential representatives of the Italian cynophilia. He strongly believes that our relationship with animals can help us gain access to our own true nature.
It is very interesting to see that this extraordinary visit of Lama Zopa Rinpoche spontaneously triggered synergic collaboration between different realities relentlessly working for the benefit of animals and environment.
Sea Shepherd’s Brigitte Bardot ship is just as famous as the French diva whose name it bears. In 2010, this ship helped the cause of the Sea Shepherd’s founder, Capitan Paul Watson (he also founded Greenpeace), who is also a Dalai Lama supporter.
Sea Shepherd was established in 1977. It is an international non-profit organization. Its mission is to stop the destruction of natural habitat and massacre of the species living in the oceans across the world, preserve and protect our ecosystems and different species.
Brigitte Bardot set a world record as the fastest motorboat to sail around the world. It is 35-metres long and 14-metres large. It will arrive to the Cala de’ Medici marina in the next days, and remain there until Sunday 8 October for the blessing ceremony.
