Vajrayoghini Blessing and Retreat

Only for those who have received an empowerment of Heruka, Yamantaka, Kalachakra (mahanuttaryogatantra)

The Vajrayoghini blessing is of mahanutarayogatantra class, and therefore you have to meet certain prerequisites to receive it: you must have taken refuge in the three Jewels, received teachings on the Three Principal Aspects of the Path, and already received one of the major empowerments of the highest tantric class, such as Heruka, Yamantaka, Kalachakra. Therefore, the Vajrayoghini blessing is only for those who are already on the Buddhist path and are seriously intent on practising the tantric path.  Those who receive this blessing make the commitment to recite a short Vajrayoghini Sadhana every day for the rest of their lives.

The blessing and the commentary will be translated to both Italian and English.

Draft Program

Program will be finalised after 10 June, when it is clear, if the Yamantaka empowerment has to be conferred before the Vajrayoghini blessing or not. However, in order to help the participants with their planning, we can already share both possible options:

Friday, 5: 
20.30 – 22.00 introduction to the Vajrayoghini blessing
Saturday, 6:
9.00 – 12.30 – Lama’s preparation (only for the Lama)
14.30 – 17.30 – Vajrayoghini blessing (could finish later than planned with short breaks in between)

Preparations and beginning of retreat early in the afternoon.

Draft Retreat Schedule:
Retreat consists of 4 daily sessions; indicatively:
5.30-7.45 – 1st session – self-generation
10.00-12.30 – 2nd session
15.00-17.00 – 3rd session
20.00 – 21.30 – 4th session
During the sessions, Ven. Geshe Gelek will explain the most difficult parts of the sadhana. In between the sessions, the participants are requested to observe silence.
Retreat ends with the fire puja. The fire puja can only be attended by those who complete the recitation of 100.000 Vajrayoghini mantras. Only those who complete the retreat together with the fire puja will be authorised to perform the Vajrayoghini self-empowerment.

Ven. Geshe Jampa Gelek

Geshe Jampa Gelek was born in 1966 in Tibet. He received the Geshe Lharampa degree from Sera Je Monastic University in South India, graduating first in his class in 1999.

Focusing on tantric studies, Geshe Jampa Gelek is also qualified to give initiations and commentaries. He currently teaches in the Masters Program at the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute.
