Gompa, Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa

In 2025, Lama Thubten Yeshe would have turned 90.
To honour his birthday, the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute will hold a puja on 15 May in the Lama Tzong Khapa Gompa. The ceremony is open to all who wish to pay tribute to his memory.

Students—both direct and indirect—who have received Lama Yeshe’s precious teachings over the years are warmly invited to join.

Lama Yeshe often spoke of the importance of creating a “family feeling” within the FPMT. In this same spirit, the Institute invites his students from around the world to help preserve his legacy by sharing two things:

• A cherished memory or personal moment with Lama Yeshe that reflects his spirit and impact

• The key teaching you most wish to pass on to future generations

You can contribute by recording a 60-second video interview, either in person or online, throughout 2025.
If you were fortunate enough to know Lama Yeshe and would like to take part, please contact: comunicazione@iltk.org

All videos will be shared on the Institute’s social media channels and with the Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive.

Let us come together to honour Lama Yeshe’s life, teachings, and the lasting inspiration he continues to offer the world.

Lama Thubten Yeshe

Lama Thubten Yeshe was born in Tibet in 1935. At the age of six, he entered Sera Monastic University, where he studied until 1959.
After going into exile in India, he met Lama Zopa Rinpoche, forming a deep and lasting teacher-disciple relationship.
In 1965, they met their first Western students. In 1971, they settled in Kopan, a small village near Kathmandu in Nepal.
In 1974, they began teaching in the West, laying the foundations for what is now the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT).
Lama Yeshe passed away in 1984. His recognised reincarnation is Tenzin Ösel Hita.
