Geshe Tenzin Tenphel

Geshe Tenzin Tenphel, born in 1956 in Dromo (Tibet).
At the age of three, following the Chinese invasion of Tibet, he emigrated to India and became a monk at the age of nine.
At seventeen, he entered Sera Je Monastic University in India, where he successfully completed twenty-one years of study, earning the title of Geshe Lharampa — the highest academic degree in the Tibetan monastic education system, equivalent to a doctorate.
He then continued his studies at Gyuto Tantric College, where he deepened his understanding of tantra, and in 1997 he led the meditative and ritual practices at Sera Je.
Since 1998, at the invitation of Geshe Jampa Gyatso, he has been the Resident Teacher at the Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa, where he teaches the FPMT Basic Program and other courses on Buddhism.

The Wheel of Sharp Weapons – Mahayana Mind Training

A series of teachings with Geshe Tenphel on The Wheel of Sharp Weapons by Dharmarakshita.

The Mahayana path is characterised by the Bodhisattva’s aspiration to become a Buddha for the benefit of all beings. The means to develop and strengthen this extraordinary attitude are revealed in a type of teaching that is both practical and radical, known as mind training or thought transformation (Lo-Jong). The Wheel of Sharp Weapons by Dharmarakshita is one of the most respected mind training texts — a powerful weapon for cutting through our true enemies: self-grasping and selfishness, which are the opposites of the altruistic intention and obstruct lasting peace and happiness.

Geshe Jampa Gelek

Geshe Jampa Gelek, born in 1966 in Kham (Tibet).
At the age of sixteen, he travelled to Lhasa to become a monk, but due to restrictions imposed by the Chinese government, it took him a year to reach Sera Je Monastic University in India.
There, from 1983, he studied and earned the title of Geshe Lharampa — the highest academic degree in the Tibetan monastic education system, equivalent to a doctorate — graduating first in his class.
He then continued his training at Gyuto Tantric College, where he obtained the qualification to confer initiations and give commentaries on tantric texts.
Since 2012, he has been the Resident Geshe at the Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa, where he teaches the FPMT Masters Program and other courses on Buddhism.

Bodhisattvacharyavatara – Engaging in the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life

In this series of teachings, Geshe Jampa Gelek will offer commentary on the Bodhisattvacharyavatara, composed in the 8th century CE by the Indian acharya Shantideva — one of the great panditas of the ancient monastic university of Nalanda.

This is a foundational Mahayana text which, combining refined dialectics with poetic beauty, presents the essential practices of the Bodhisattva path and the Madhyamaka-Prasangika philosophical view.
Its content remains relevant for all those who genuinely aspire to follow this supreme spiritual path, and also for those with analytical and reflective minds who seek inspiration to deepen their inner world.
