What will we do?
The day begins at 10:00 AM. Venerable Carla welcomes students and teachers in the main courtyard and leads the guided tour.
The programme can be adapted to meet each class’s needs—activities can be limited to the morning or extended over two days with accommodation at the Institute.
A story of dialogue and peace
The tour takes place in the park surrounding the Institute, exploring monuments and areas of interest. Students will hear:
-
The story of the Institute and its mission to promote peace, compassion, and ethical responsibility
-
Key features of Tibetan Buddhism and how it has spread in the West
A reflection on Tibet
During the visit, students reflect on Tibet’s current situation. They will view historical and contemporary photographs to better understand this complex topic.
The message of peace and non-violence from the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of Tibet and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, is also discussed. His dedication to universal ethics and support for refugees offers a global example of compassion and responsibility.
Introduction to Meditation
At 11:30 AM, Venerable Lucia leads a short meditation session, introduced by a simple explanation of the practice and its benefits.
Scientific studies have shown that meditation helps children and adolescents by improving focus, emotional regulation, and reducing stress.
For example, research in the journal Mindfulness showed school meditation programmes can reduce anxiety and depression in students.
Lunch
At 12:30 PM, lunch is served in the Institute’s cafeteria. Meals are vegetarian or vegan, with gluten-free options available.
Self-service style. Students may also bring a packed lunch.
Until 2:15 PM, students can relax or play in the park.
Q&A Session
At 2:30 PM, a Q&A session with Venerable Carla gives students the chance to ask questions and reflect on what they have learned.
Yoga and Mindfulness
From 3:00 to 4:00 PM, teachers Chiara and Giulia guide a session of yoga, mindful breathing, and walking meditation in the park.
The day ends with Tibetan singing bowls and the recitation of a short mantra, with an explanation of its meaning.
Scientific studies show that yoga and mindfulness help students improve emotional balance, boost self-esteem, and create a calmer classroom atmosphere.
Can we customise the programme?
Yes. The programme is fully customisable according to your class’s needs.
For primary schools, all activities can be scheduled in the morning.
For groups interested in a deeper experience, the visit can be extended to two days with an overnight stay at the Institute.
We can also arrange visits to local initiatives applying ethical principles in work and business.
Tailored programmes can include:
-
Meditation sessions in English
-
Meetings with interpreters (Tibetan–Italian)
