From a Peaceful Mind to a World of Peace

Human Spirit in collaboration with the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute, offers an international residential and online Conference, dedicated to the MindScience Academy, on the theme “From a Peaceful Mind to a Peaceful World” on Oct. 12, 2022

‘Human Spirit’ is a unique project – a cultural-scientific enterprise, born in Israel, that seeks to create a platform for unprecedented cooperation between Self Psychology and Tibetan Buddhism; between a distinctly Western discipline for the treatment of the human psyche, and an ancient philosophy that invites man to undertake spiritual transformation.

The visionary proposal of the psychoanalytic-Buddhist “Human Spirit” training program is offered to the international community jointly on behalf of the Israel Association for Self Psychology and the Study of Subjectivity (IASPS) and the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute. Received the blessing of His Holiness The Dalai Lama in 2014 in Pomaia as a project that will be able to make a significant contribution to the growth of wisdom and compassion among people.
Mind Science Academy (MSA) is a project initiated by the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute on the encouragement received from His Holiness the Dalai Lama during his 2014 visit to Pomaia.

The project has the full support of the Foundation for Preservation of Mahayana Tradition (FPMT)  and its Spiritual Director Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

The program is designed to merge three fields of thought that all share an interest in expanding the human mind and establishing open, supra-personal perspective on the world and other human beings: Psychoanalysis e Psychoanalytic Self Psychology, Buddhism and Humanities and the Arts.

After ten years of diligently preparing ‘Human Spirit’ program, and after officially gaining approval by the Israel Association for Self Psychology and the Study of Subjectivity, as well as the endorsement of Lama Tzong Khapa Institute in Pomaia, Italy, the ‘Human Spirit’ initiative officially began its journey in March 2015.

Over the past decade, this unique project has already collaborated with other initiatives in Italy, the United States and India.

The event will feature Western psychologists, psychoanalysts and experts who will discuss these issues from multiple perspectives.

Over 15 years, I’ve worked as an organizational consultant in Israel, training managers in communication skills, team building and customer care.  When I turned 40, I decided to go for a Buddhist way of life. I was lucky enough to find the FPMT and immediately started an in-depth study program at Nalanda Monastery, France. After 5 years and a 3-month retreat, I graduated and became a certified teacher. After graduation I stayed in Nalanda for five more years, doing the same program again, but this time as a teaching assistant, supporting the students with presentations, clarifying the teachings etc.
In the recent years, I have been teaching the Israeli FPMT Shantideva group. From October 2022 on, I’ll join the team of Human Spirit.

Ven. Sonam Wangchuk

I came to India in 1993 and since then I have studied Buddhism in sera je monastery (Tehor Khamtsen). Geshe Gedun Cheophel and Geshe Lobsang Delek are my teachers. I finished all five fields of Geluk main texts in 2010 and then I went to learn sakyapa, nyimapa, kagyupa, jonangpa, and Bon madhiyamika tradition. After all, I could write a book which I have called “Meditation of madiyamika and description of science”. That book was printed two times in India and three times printed in Tibet.  In 2013 Tibetan Religion department in exile requested me to write a book about Buddhism for the beginners of the Tibetan new generation and at the same time Tibetan university in Sarnath requested to be Guest lecturer in that university. So, I did take responsibility for both. I finished that writing in 2015 and it was printed by the Tibetan Government. After I got great time to show me to His Holiness I mean the first book, at times His Holiness told me you should write another book which should be based on lama Tsokhapa’ GuhysamajTantra. As His Holiness wishes I could finish last year and print India and in Tibet so successfully.
